Música de Feria
Música de Feria, or Music of the Fair, was written for string quartet by the Mexican composer Silvestre Revueltas (1899-1940).
Imagine yourself walking through the plaza of a small town in Mexico during a fiesta: several MARIACHI BANDS playing at the same time, hoping to attract the richest customers, merchants selling their wares; fireworks, carnival rides and happy people enjoying the festivities.
A String Quartet has 2 violins, a viola, and a violoncello.
Each instrument has 4 strings and the sound is made by drawing the bow (stick) across the strings.
The viola is the middle size instrument, the violins are the smallest, and the violoncello (or cello) is the largest.
