El Pajarito Rojo

The first piece is called El Pajarito Rojo which means “The Little Red Bird.” It was written in 1994 by Mexican composer, Alice Gomez. You will see all the musicians playing together: flute, guitar, 2 violins, viola, cello, and percussion.

Can answer these questions.?
-- Which instrument leads in El Pajarito Rojo?
-- Is there one leader or does it change? The leader is often playing the instrument that has the highest PITCH.

In the performance if you watch closely, you can tell who is leading at the beginning of the piece. The other musicians will watch that person very carefully as the leader moves their head or body to signal when to start.

Think about this.
-- What is your favorite kind of music? Do some research to find its roots.
-- What are the countries or culture of the people who play in this style?
